The power of blogs

So there are still some details to tell you. Remember I mentioned that a fellow blogger told me about this adoption lead? Well, this blogger was the one. I am eternally grateful to her!

She and her husband are also generously opening up their home to us when we come to pick up our baby. I can't wait to meet them!

It's funny because I always had a hunch that we would hear about our baby from a blogger. A few others have also been kind enough let me know about leads over the last several months, which always amazed me that people were thinking of us. The blogs were bringing us more hope than our agency was!

I can't say enough about this blog community. Between sending me leads, actually linking me to a baby we will pick up in the coming days, giving so generously to our adoption fund (you have no idea how much that has seriously, seriously helped us reach our goal), and your prayers (oh, your prayers!) all of you have blown me away. As one dear friend told me the other day, as the Church community, we are called to all play a part in bringing up our children and this is part of that. You are all a part of that!

Seriously, this community is so powerful.

One other detail I found out the other day - the reason the original couple backed out of adopting this baby is because the wife just found out she was pregnant. Interesting, huh?

On another note, I have a little nervousness this morning that something could fall through, but now I am left to trust. That's what it's always about, after all!

  1. I love it!

I just can't believe it - all this time, God knew He was going to send your baby via this blog of yours.
    How utterly amazing!

And WAY TO GO, Rhiannon. May God richly bless you.

  2. I had NO DOUBT that this blog would play integral roles in ALL of our lives, and in helping us to become mothers - whether it be by someone's advice for medical treatment, an adoption lead, financial support, and, you said it, PRAYERS... we have been so blessed!

R - you are an angel in disguise!!

K, remember your patron Saint for 2010 is St. Luke the Evangelist... like him, your blog has reached so many and touched so many that I'm sure you don't even KNOW about. We are all more than happy to repay that wonderful gift you've given to us.

St Luke, pray for K and her new family this year especially!!

  4. I know we've all experienced the graces this community of bloggers has offered, but I love it that your story offers an example in such a concrete way. What a wonderful witness to the (largely unexpected) blessings we've all received as a result of this. (Now all we need is a way to get pregnant by blogging!)

  6. Okay the excitement and joy of all of us this has kept me up WAY too late every night, just smiling and thinking about every detail of this miracle over and over in my mind. (I probably look a lot like Ralphie on "A Christmas Story" just lying in bed smiling, envisioning himself with his BB gun ... except I am envisioning you and R with your baby girl!!!!)

Sooner or later, I'll need to get some sleep but for now I am really enjoying this euphoric baby bliss!!! (is this what normal fertiles feel like on a regular basis? Holy heck they are really blessed!)

I am having to restrain myself from coming up there today just to help you get ready ... painting, whatever. I am sooo excited for you!

  10. Oh K, I'm so filled with joy for you!

As so many before me have said, your blog was the first Catholic IF blogs that I found. I found it at a time where I felt so alone and hopeless. It doesn't surprise me that you have found your baby through your blog as well.

I continue to pray for you and your baby girl!!!!

  15. I live in the same state as PHDW and LIM, but on the north side about 3 hours away. If you email (blog name@gmail) and let me know when you are getting into the area, I'll see if I can make it down there, too.
