You might have seen this picture, or one like it, going around facebook...
It really ticked me off when I saw it this afternoon, and I've been stewing about it all day. It's such a weak argument (one usually followed by that other stellar argument that someone is a man and has no right making decisions about someone's womb).
So, if the above statement is true, then so is this...
I, for one, am glad and not at all intimidated by the fact that there are laws set up to protect those two precious children of mine. Yes, I decide what they wear each day, where they'll go to school, and what they eat. But I don't get to decide if they deserve to be hit, abused, neglected, or worse. No, the government has already made those decisions for me. I can't beat them. I can't kill them. End of story.
So I'm sorry, but the argument that my va-jay-jay-is-my-business-so-stay-out-of-it doesn't fly with me. Luke wasn't one of my organs. He was a separate, living human being. A boy. A child. He deserved protection then and now. All babies do.
And, yes, I'm preaching to the choir, but I just needed to vent. I now feel a tiny bit better.

Amen!
ReplyDeleteOh my. What a sad, weak argument.
ReplyDeleteI'm ticked too!
theirs not yours!
ReplyDeleteI've been getting pretty mad lately too...good post K.
ReplyDeleteMaybe if someone woman actually realized that their body is private and special, they will learn to not treat it as public property. Maybe they will learn what is healthy and wonderful about themselves. Maybe they will realize it's not solely a recreational area.
ReplyDelete" some women"
ReplyDeletePreach it, sister!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat Leila said:)Good post!
ReplyDeleteRight on sister!
ReplyDeleteI spent practically the whole weekend on the Susan G. Komen website after they decided to fund PP again. It was awful! Every post I wrote trying to speak up for the unborn babies, the pro-abortion people had a retort to: they lashed out at me, ridiculed me, and bullied me. They kept on trying to twist my words around and run me off the page, BUT I DID NOT BACK DOWN! The next day at Mass, the Franciscan Friar proclaimed that God wants us to spread the Gospel. So I prayed about it and somehow got the courage to return to the Susan G. Komen page. I used a different tactic this time. I used quotes about Blessed Theresa of Calcutta. I also noticed that many women were saying they used contraceptives to deal with bad cramps. So I shared my story about having endometriosis stage four, having monster cramps for most of my life, but No, I never used contraceptives, and why. I shared with them about Napro. Some people on the Susan G. Komen page claimed they were medical people and how dare I say this about contraceptives, ect. They tried so hard to discredit me. My retort: "I lived with endometriosis and bad cramps all my life. You haven't." Again, I wouldn't let them try to bully me. A few women thanked me for my post and shared their experiences with Napro too, which was great! But my worst experience in that room was when a woman came on there and told everyone she was getting an abortion the next day. I emailed that woman offering to adopt her baby and included my plea on the Susan G. Komen post. The Pro-abortion people got rather nasty and said: "Neither she nor I am a breeder for infertile woman" ect, which yes, did sting! Here I was trying to do a good thing, trying to save that baby, and they attacked me. But again, I have found many of the women on that Susan G. Komen FB page were bullies. When I tried to speak up for the unborn and they retorted: what about the victims of rape and incest?" and I answered: "Why should that unborn baby be punished for the sins of the father?" ect. one woman came back and told me: "I hope you are raped someday!" Very vicious! Finally two days later when a woman started retorting about an "owl swooping down and giving me knowledge and wisdom" my husband told me that was Satanic Symbolism and please leave that room! So I did. But I still haven't recovered from being in that room. I can't believe there are so many women out there that that just think an unborn baby is a bunch of cells or tissue, that aborting a baby is NOT murder, that I am the selfish one because I want to save the unborn babies, and that some of these pro-abortion women can be so heartless and mean! The other day I was at a medical appointment and some of their comments especially the "I hope you are raped", "abortion is not murder", and "we are not breeders for the infertile" and almost started crying! I just hope and pray that being in that room for three days off and on helped save some unborn babies and converted some women back to God and His Commandments. I have been praying my rosary very hard for all these women, all men and women who have had abortions, and for the end of abortion! This is a topic very near and dear to my heart!

Maria
Could someone maybe create a pro-life image? Something we could all upload to Facebook as our profile photo? I will do it! Let's stand up and be heard!

Maria - Wow, you really were in the trenches! I'm sure God is using your prayers for good. And I agree - sometimes that stuff can get so dark that I don't want to even read it. I just have to believe that a lot of those women are secretly mourning the loss of their babies and the only way they know to cope is to lash out at others who bring light to the fact that abortion is murder. It's so sad.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part was your use of the word va-jay-jay. Hehehehe.
ReplyDeleteI'm easily amused and over-stimulated with caffeine this morning. ;P
I chopped my liberal friends. I only have liberal family on fb so I didn't see the lewd picture.
ReplyDeleteWhere are the trolls.....? They were on my blog calling me stupid. LOL
Thanks for the post, K-well said. I agree. And so sorry about Maria Therese's experience. It can get so ugly out there. People get so emotional over these issues that they become irrational, and any chance at a real, reasonable debate is lost as the accusations fly.
ReplyDeleteMy husband came up with a unique response to someone who was complaining that in Poland, women are so victimized that they have to go on a boat to have an abortion-he said, "Really? That actually seems easy! If I wanted to murder someone here I'd have to look for a hit man, and then make all kinds of arrangements, hope not to get caught, etc" The person came back with "No, I'm talking about abortion, not killing people" and he was just like "what? what do you mean, of course abortion is killing. everyone knows that. it's just a difference of when you think it's acceptable. but it's killing" There was really nowhere for this particular type of pro-abortion argument to go from that point. I didn't even have to jump in with theology, ridiculous definitions of private property, or the culture of life!
I currently get discouraged at so many what seem like "attacks" on religious liberty and the way the media portrays responses-they make it seem like we are a marginalized, nutty minority that is pro-life. It makes me scared. Then I remember Pope Benedict's book when he first became Pope-"Spe salvi"-"Have Hope". We must keep up the faith and hope for Truth. Women are told so many lies about their bodies and their babies. The truth is so much more beautiful and life affirming.
A very liberal friend I know from growing up "liked" the picture of E with his "Adoption Rocks" t-shirt on from Facebook. I couldn't believe it, but it made me so happy!
ReplyDeleteI think the only way we will ever change others minds about this is by example. So keep posting those beautiful pictures of your precious little ones...how can anyone not see that they are gifts? Truth always wins.
You said it well!
ReplyDeleteSigh. And if your body really is only your business, how on earth is it your your employer's duty to pay for your contraception?
ReplyDeleteAmen sister!! Love the part--"Luke wasn't one of my organs"--so true!! Why are we treating HUMAN BEINGS like just another organ, like the appendix?
ReplyDeleteAmen.
ReplyDeleteAmen to that. Good post. And love the title too.
ReplyDeleteI didn't see the offensive picture until you posted it. Wow. Ugh.
ReplyDeleteI'm appalled at what the women said to Maria Therese. Where do people get off saying such nasty things and believing such lies?
I'm inspired to see you fight the lies with your beautiful babies!
Excellent post - how sad a photo of that beautiful body...and why one would even pose like that in the first place . . . no respect for what God has made.
ReplyDeleteI am a post abortive woman. April 1970. For years I was pro-abortion - I HAD to be, either that or lose my mind...you see it goes like this...
You have an abortion - then your heart and mind click together and you start to ignore your heart because if you stop and pay attention to your heart, you will lose your mind. You tell yourself to stop hurting. You tell yourself it was okay . . .
You become angry, you become defensive, you hate, truly HATE anyone who tries to tell you you were wrong to have aborted your baby.
Sometimes you turn to alcohol or drugs. Sometimes you become promiscuous - sometimes you just want to die ... well, a lot of the time, you just want to die.
So - you HAVE to demand that others understand that what you did was not wrong - what you did was justified - because, who, who in the world wants to admit that they killed their child, their child that was nestled in their womb, in a safe place?
No one. Not one soul.
I write this so that those who are speaking out - and God Bless you - know that you are fighting for souls - and that you MUST put on the armor of God, always before you go into battle.
Satan has a huge grip on those who are post abortive - they are not evil - they are trying to maintain their sanity.
I have had the grace of God show me how much HE loves me ... ADORES me and how much I am forgiven.
I am happy to say that I am healing from my abortion procedure. I will never be over it - and I applaud all of you who go in and try to help those who cannot help themselves.
Please, please be armed...ask St. Michael the Archangel to defend you in battle.
Please also be ready to pick up the pieces when a woman "gets" that she has actually permitted her baby to be killed. She needs support, love and help. One of the best post abortive ministries is Rachel's Vineyard (and yes, I do volunteer for them several weekends a year).
Please have resources available for those who want healing ... otherwise, you may succeed in pushing them over the edge ... suicide rates for post abortive women is very, very high, sadly.
God Bless you all - and I apologize if I have offended anyone.
Chimakuni - Wow.. My heart goes out to you. And that is incredible insight, so thank you. It makes complete sense that post-abortive women would fight for self-preservation. The truth would be unbearable, I'm sure. My heart breaks for all of them.
