What's been going on

Believe it or not, there are actually some things going on in my life other than crying and complaining! Well, truthfully, not too many things, but a few.

- I had a positive OPK a couple days ago on cycle day 14 (yay for small blessing!). I also had what might have been ovulation pain later that night.

- My temp didn't exactly rise like I hoped it would (and it usually always does). It dipped four tenths of a point the day before my positive OPK, then went back to what it had been before the dip. That got me concerned. Anyone has any insight on this?

- I was nauseous two days before ovulation. Would that be from estrogen? Also, as was apparent on my blog, I was utterly depressed (thank you, thank you, thank you, by the way, for all your uplifting comments). After what I believe was ovulation, my mood improved. Would that be due to rising progesterone? I am such a slave to my hormones!

- So I have a pack of Endometrin here that a friend sent to me (you know who you are!), and I'm hoping my doctor won't mind me just taking it. I'm waiting for him to call back so I can ask. Here's the question though - if he doesn't call me back (I've been waiting several days already, and today may be my peak day), would you just start taking it anyways? And if so, would you do it on peak +2 or 3?

- In news unrelated to my cycle (I know you are all breathing a sigh of relief), I got to babysit baby Ethan last week! He was so cute and so good. Here he is with Ryan when he stopped home on his dinner break:

- Like everyone else, we've also been busy lately with Christmas parties. We had a wedding thrown in there too. Here are a few shots from them:

Another party with, from the right, GIMH, me, and no that's not Amber, it's her twin sister, C!

At a super-fun wedding

- I also just finished some big projects and I really feel like a huge weight has been lifted off of my shoulders. What a great feeling! One of those projects was editing my sister's wedding video. I'll post a couple short pieces of it the next few days for your viewing pleasure. Here's the first installment:

  1. So great (the video)! What a talent you have... I'm going to start doing my flip video-ing and send it to you soon, so you can continue work on the Cath. IF video :) It's gonna ROCK!

I don't really have any insight into the temps and stuff. How sweet of someone to send you Endometrin- friends are the greatest!

I am pretty sure I did not ovulate this cycle, since my prog was 18.8 (this was on 300 mgs daily of prog). My Dr agrees that that # could be from the progesterone supps alone. (And you know me and you with our outRAGEous prog. # history!!) I feel like I'm moving backwards instead of forward... but feeling O pains, and the +OPK are all good things, and I won't be taking those for granted again!

  2. Thanks! I'll email you for tips on the video.

That was my case with progesterone last cycle too, yet my doctor's explanation was that it takes a cycle to kick in. Meaning it should be higher this cycle due to taking it last month. Is that true? I just can't imagine pumping myself full of all that progesterone and it not helping right away. It doesn't make sense!

  3. TAKE THE PILLS! But only if you know when you're supposed to take them. And I have no idea.

  7. My temp. normally dips just a little the day before ovulation, but I always have a definite temp. rise after ovulation (which doesn't occur naturally all that often).

I love the video! It takes me forever to edit videos, too. It is so time consuming. I still haven't finished one I started at the beginning of the year. Sister is lucky to have you.

You look great in all the pictures!

  8. The wedding video is AWESOME! Can't wait to see shots of the other video! :)

Take the endometrium on P+3, don't worry about calling your dr. about it....No big deal! :)

  10. I get that same dip at ovulation, and sometimes it does take another day to get a full temp rise. And, I also have the same horrible time before ovulation with the high estrogen, and feel such relief with the progesterone surge.

As long as you confirmed ovulation, you can take the endometrin with no problems.

  11. No insight on the temps (since I haven't taken my temperature in a LONG time!), sorry! That's cool that someone sent you Endometrin! How neat!

Love the wedding video! You're so talented! Btw, I still have the little video that I took of myself in the hospital WAY back in August!

  12. Most of the time I have a temp dip on the day of ovulation and a slow temp rise after. I'd say you ovulated as long as the line trends upward from the day of ovulation for a couple days.

As long as you have a confirmed ovulation, you can start the endometrin. I often get nauseous around ovulation (I assume due to high estrogen).

I love your Christmas party pictures.

  13. Thanks, guys! So my temp rose to 97.9 today (it was 97.0 for several days, then 96.6, 97.0 (+OPK), 97.1, 97.1 (most likely peak day), 97.9). That is a pretty slow rise, so maybe it's indicative of some problem.

JB - I forgot about that! I'll email you about getting it to me.

  14. I'd start the endometrin on Peak +3. That is the protocol, at least.

And I don't think you need permission from your Dr. to start it, because progesterone is progesterone. He already had you on prometrium, right? (i am sorry, I get confused on whose cycles are whose these days! ha ha!)

I think different people absorb prometrium better in different ways. P has said that endometrin fared the best in the trials, as getting the best results for the most people ( I think!)

I don't think prometrium pills do a whole lot for me, so perhaps this kind will do the trick?

Praying LOTS for you. I am glad to hear your mood has lifted:)

  15. I meant to say different people absorb progesterone better in different ways.

  16. Hi K - I have been lurking on your blog on and off for some time now. I can't figure out how to "follow" you, so I don't know ehn you update. Let me know if I am missing something.

I think the temp dip before ovulation is fairly common, it happens to me as well - here is some more information on it, hope this helps:
