Well I took my first dose of metformin this morning. Nothing to really report yet, except in just the last half hour or so I've felt like my stomach is a little off and my head hurts a bit. But that might just be me looking for it. Just in case, though, I'm going to lay down for a while and take it easy. I think my dose is pretty low, though, so I have a feeling I'll be okay.
In the good news department, we have found the perfect place for our movie premiere. It's at a really classy art museum in the city we used to live in (and the city that the movie is set in). They have a theater that seats the perfect number - not too big and not too small - and it is (surprisingly) affordable. So we're excited!
In other good news, I am all set to go to a water park in about a week and a half. Did I mention we're going to a water park? It's something I haven't done since I was a kid (mainly because we didn't live in a part of the country where they existed), but it's always been something I've absolutely loved. So as I've been trying to find fun things to do to get my mind off of infertility, this came up. I haven't wanted to do it in years mainly due to not wanting to wear a bathing suit. Well, I still don't want to wear a bathing suit, but since I feel so much better about myself I have at least found a solution. This might sound weird, but I found men's swim trunks at J Cr.ew that, when worn in a smaller size, don't appear to be men's swim trunks (hopefully), and I'm going to wear them with a tankini on top. I figured that even if I was skinny, I wouldn't want to parade around in bathing suit bottoms anyway! I'll have to post a picture of myself in my "bathing suit" at some point!
Right now I'm watching my hubby on t.v. He isn't normally on at this hour, but he's filling in for someone. He's wearing a new suit that he bought on Monday, which looks really good! I'm so proud of him for dropping so much weight, too. It has made it SO much easier that he is dieting right along with me.
Sorry for the boring post, but I figured after a couple heavy ones, I needed to lighten up!

Hey there. I'm your clicker, so I've been reading along for a while, but I don't think I've commented yet (bad me!). I just wanted to give you some metformin encouragement. I only "sort of" have PCOS according to my doctor (she never wanted to give me a full-blown diagnosis), and I convinced her to let me try met in March.
ReplyDeleteIt DOES get better, I promise. I'm on 1500mg/day (3 - 500mg tabs). The first 10 days or so were the weirdest/hardest. It's really not that bad, just takes some getting used to. Now I don't even notice it. Just make sure to take it after eating, and drink a glass of milk or juice if your tummy is upset a bit. It never made me nauseated, just queasy.
Before the met, my cycles were way irregular and I wasn't ovulating. I O'd my first cycle on the met (but CD55). And on the 2nd cycle as well (CD22). Without the met, I would have NEVER O'd on my own, and I would NEVER have got that magical BFP that came on Sunday.
So met was my wunderdrug, and I pray it does miracles for you as well. It's fantastic for the weightloss as well, I'm down about 5-6 lbs since starting it, without too much effort on my part. Best of luck!
Alison - Oh my gosh.. congratulations! I've read your blog before, too, but hadn't checked it lately to see your BFP. And, of course, that is really encouraging for my situation, so thanks for sharing!
ReplyDelete(And I'm SO excited to meet my clicker! I didn't even know I had one!)
I LOVE water parks. I took DH to his first one last summer (can you believe ARIZONA doesn't have a legitimate water park?) I hope you have a BLAST! Praying that met is really easy on your body. It was wicked on mine but it didn't affect my mom or two of my friends at all (in terms of GI side effects)--hoping yours is as smooth!
ReplyDeleteOooh, water park! Sounds like fun!
ReplyDeleteAs for the Met, I'm on the same dose as Alison, 1500 mgs. I always take mine after dinner, but as long as it's after a meal, it should be fine. My stomach only got upset when I added T3 to the mix (I was on 2000mgs Met at the time), so I decreased the dose of Met and now all's good. What dose are you building up to on Met?
It has done wonders for me. I never really struggled with weight issues, BUT I did have some kind of constipation issues going on for years (sorry, tmi). Well, not anymore since Met :)
I'm so excited to hear Alison's news! That should give all of us some new hope.
i wish i lived closer for your premiere!
ReplyDeleteShannon - if you are where I think you are, you'll only be four hours away! "Only" being relative, of course. Don't you want to see the picture you took up on the big screen?!
ReplyDeleteI want to thank you for this wonderful blog. Your honest words are refreshing and everyone's comments help me feel part of this great support group of people I've never met! This blog is a gift to "all of us who hope" and you are all in my prayers as we travel down's God's special path for us. AMEN!
ReplyDeleteNo way, Jose, I'm a Katie and Joshua fan :) But I must admit, Chelsea H. and whats-his-name did pretty amazing tonight, too.
