Questions

I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow to go over my adrenal test results. We'll talk about that, but, of course, we'll also talk about everything else as well.

My appointment is at 8:30 a.m. and that will require us to drive north on I-95 during rush hour in Northern Virginia. I know, it's nuts. We're leaving at 5:30, which will leave twice as much time as it normally takes to get there, but we'll still need prayers. I'm just hoping it goes smoothly.

So I am using this post to come up with questions for him, because I always do better when I have prepared questions. I am forcing myself do this because I really do think all of this is silly. A big waste of time. But here goes...

1) What were my adrenal results and what can I do, if anything, to fix them? What about cortisone?

2) What does he think about the other doctor saying I don't need surgery right away?

3) I didn't have left-side pain (the reason we started considering surgery) this month, except around peak day. What could that mean? Could the Tamoxifen have been aggravating something? (But it did hurt prior to starting Tamoxifen last fall)

4) If we are going to wait a couple months for surgery, can I just schedule it now?

5) What about injectables?

6) What are his thoughts on me seeing an RE to do a couple rounds of injectables with close monitoring? (I am more than 1 1/2 hours from his office, so even if he did want to monitor my cycle, it wouldn't make sense logistically)

7) What is wrong with me?

8) Is there anything he recommends for the depression?

9) This might sound random, but I have new hair growth around my hair line, mainly by my temples, where I previously had a receded hair line (it wasn't really receding, my permanent hair line has always looked this way). Does this mean anything? (I just noticed this recently.. I have TONS of new, short, wavy hair! I think it might even make my hair line less weird looking! I know hair growth means something, so I want to know what)

10) To continue with random questions, I constantly have the feeling of fluid in my left ear. Does this mean anything? (I've read it could have something to do with thyroid)

So that's it. I'm torn because I really feel like this is pointless. I just don't know how much longer I continue to pretend that a doctor is going to somehow miraculously fix me. I used to love doctors appointments. Now I dread them because I go despite what I know in my heart.

I am asking #8 for my husband's sake. I know there is no answer. Well, there is, but it apparently is not part of the plan for us.

When I was laying out today (I know it's not good for you, but I feel like at least the sunlight may help my depression), I tried to think what my image of God was like right now. I decided that to me, he isn't that loving Father I always hear about, but rather he is like that teacher or boss who, no matter how hard I try, just doesn't like me. He likes everyone else, but gives me a hard time and, despite my best efforts, I can't seem to change his mind. I've had coaches, managers, bosses like that in the past. Haha.. maybe it's me!

I know that is a very sad image. I know that is not how we're supposed to think of God, but I am just being honest.

I am begging for his grace. Even though it feels as if he has completely and utterly abandoned me, I still hold out hope that one day he will remember me and help me find a way to deal with this sorrow. That is all I can hope for at this point - that some day it won't hurt as much.

I need to end this post because everything I write I end up erasing. If I just wrote from my heart you'd all have me committed.

  1. great questions! i definitely think that you should also ask about low dose naltrexone -- it helps with adrenal function and also with depression. it takes a while to kick in, but once it does, it really does the job. i'm sure that without it i would have to be committed!

i'll be sending your prayers tomorrow as you drive through rush hour traffic. i honestly don't know how people commute in it every day!

  2. I wish I had something more to offer, but please know you are in my prayers. It is just so hard.

  3. I find it helps to write from the heart. Although sometimes I am sure you guys wish I'd stop with the negativity when I do!!!

Venting stuff is actually very healthy ... don't worry, I won't judge you. I have been there, AM there, and feel many of your same awful feelings so if you ever want to let it all out, call!!

One day I did that to Sew and there were F bombs flying left and right, tears and snot, and it felt great! I was driving and couldn't see the road.

She didn't hang up on me or think I was a heretic!!

I was so mad at God. I asked why the hell do I care about His babies that are going to aborted? Why can't He take care of them Himself or give them to people who care about them? What kind of God asks me to do it as a barren lady? Seriously I get mad just thinking about it.

I still am mad at God deep down and there are nights when I won't even let P touch me I am so hurt and angry. It isn't pretty.

You can yell and scream ... I am tough enough to handle it. I know I can't fix the situation but at least you can let the tears flow and maybe feel a little better afterwards.

I know that God has not forgotten you, K. And that He isn't up there judging you. He loves you and has a plan for you and I know it doesn't make sense. None of it does.

    Praying ....

  4. I'm so sorry. I'm in a bit of a low point this cycle, too, and have been avoiding my anger issues with God. You're not alone. DH & I pray for you every night by name. I know that doesn't help or make it easier. Just know that a lot of us are dealing with the same anger & feeling of abandonment.

I think the questions are great - my RE commented at my last appointment how impressed he was that I had all my questions typed out - or maybe he was making fun a bit? I don't know. I've thought about the depression, too, but haven't brought it up yet.

I personally like working with an RE b/c of the constant monitoring (I'm in there once a week; see the Dr. once a month), but I know it's not for everyone and I had to force myself to go I was so afraid of ART pressure.

Good luck. I hope traffic is light and you're appointment goes well. Big hugs!

  5. I have been feeling very abandoned by God lately and not even wanting to be prayerful at all. The only prayers I can pray are for others. None for myself. Since I am committing to praying for others' intentions, I will say a special prayer for you and your husband tomorrow and tonight, bc just the anticipation can make sleeping difficult.
I agree with Lifehopes in that you should always feel free to vent. The wonderful thing about this blogging is that we can be honest and then never be judged. God is there no matter how we feel. I will offer up my sufferings right now for you and all others who feel completely overlooked by God.

  6. K, your questions are good. I want to add that low adrenals can also cause depression. The extreme fatigue makes handling anything else that much harder.

Cortisol will certainly help your adrenals and your energy. As well as Vit C, and a B complex.

And of course, anger is normal. We all feel it, feel like screaming sometimes. it's ok.

  7. Feel free to vent, especially when you're faith is low. I hope your doctor has some answers for you at your appointment. I'll keep you in my prayers.

  8. Hi sweetie-
I actually am way overdo on sending you an email. When I get a minute to breathe, I will. Promise.

I don't do it enough; I need to "vent" more often. I'm in the same boat as you with prayer. I maybe pray for 4 minutes a day, but not even. I feel horrible about it!

Oh love, hang in there as best you can. I know God has you. It's ok if things aren't as clear right now.

  9. I agree with JB, great questions! Regarding #9 & 10 - I'll be interested to hear what he says as both apply to me. I've assumed that #9 was due to my insulin coming down and taken it as a good sign and #10 I've just racked up to my crazy allergies but interested to see what you're reading about thyroid. Regarding #8, there could be an answer... MTHFR can be connected to depression. I'm bringing some info to TN.

  10. I agree with the others- none of us are in any position to judge any from-the-heart vent of yours- we are here to support you and we will pray our hearts out for you no matter what!

God can handle your being mad at Him- He just wants you to bring that anger and let HIM have it so you aren't burdened with it anymore.

I know that He loves you very much!!

    Fingers crossed for light traffic!

  11. I still pray for you allllll the time and you and your dh are close to my heart. I hope you find your answers. I can speak as someone with adrenal and thyroid issues that this raw diet has helped my digestion, thus taking the workload off my liver. If you haven't read the writings of Lyn Vaccaro, it is well worth it. She has many write-ups on Associated Content and other sites regarding digestion and fertility. I'm bad though, I have lost hope in letting doctors totally solve my probs. I feel better knowing God is leading me and taking my diet and supplements into my own hands. Not that there isn't a place for that, but I can't believe all the labs and "studies" anymore. They led me to infertility and three miscarriages. I'm not going to stop praying for you. I believe in you and your strength and humility have had such an influence on my journey. God bless.(P.S.- the new hair is a good sign....something has been "sparked" and I'm sure it's glandular)

    Hey K,

I wish I would have read this post yesterday but I can only use the interent at work. This is incredibly frustrating because I LOVE to keep up with everyone's posts. So, I guess you have already had your apointment by now. I am praying everything goes well and you are happy with the answers you get. I understand what you mean about them. I used to be so excited about cycle reviews now I have been avoiding them because I just feel like there aren't going to be any new answers for me.

I really liked questions # 7, and #8. I hope Dr. B has some really good advice about these...

Your example about how you view God made me laugh and feel sad for you just because I am sure many of us IF girls have probably viewed him the same way at times.

    Many prayers,
    Amber
