I've got two more aprons under my belt. What is wrong with me? Do people even want or use aprons? Oh well. They're getting them.
So I haven't written any kind of cycle update in a while, which always seems to happen when I'm in this part of my cycle - the middle. It's the busiest part but also since it changes day to day, I usually wait until I'm in the luteal phase to talk about it. Anyways, since there isn't much else to talk about...
Today is cycle day 16. This is my fifth day of mucus and it's improving in quality each day. Yesterday I had my first day of really good quality mucus, and today is the second day I've seen it. This is especially good because I didn't know what people meant when they described this type in years past - I saw mucus that was 10KL, but it was always more thick, and for the past few months, it's been a more watery 10KL in the couple days before ovulation. At least, I think this is good. I could be wrong. I wish the NaPro book they give you when you first start charting had the mucus pictures in them like the instructors' books (by the way - didn't you just love those pictures? They look like someone blew their nose on a blue napkin and is now showing you - yet it's worse because it didn't come from someone's nose! I just remember thinking how I might want to teach Creighton, but that I didn't know if I could handle those pictures all the time).
The only slightly different thing I charted so far was mucus on day eight, followed by three dry days. It was the day after my period and then went back to dry for a few days until my real mucus started. I don't think that's a big deal or that weird, but I would have liked to see four days of green stickers (as I try to remember - I can't hyper-analyze...I can't hyper-analyze).
So that's where I am. My temp is still down, not that I put a lot of stock in temping, but it's just an extra sign. I also have been having pretty bad pain for the past few days near what I assume to be my ovaries. It's on both sides, but more on my left. But my left hurts every month. That was my really bad ovary before - the one that was five times the normal size due to a HUGE endometrioma. I guess it could be that it is just more sensitive (what I'm hoping), or that there are adhesions (I'm hoping not), or that I'm ovulating on that side right now (I'm really hoping!). Who knows!
Well we're getting ready to go out. I'm starting my monthly novena to the Infant of Prague tonight, so I'll keep you all in my prayers. And I'll also be saying some extra prayers for my husband's job. Television is a very vulnerable industry in a bad economy and the company that owns his station is laying off people at its other stations. He's getting text messages about it as I type this. We don't have a plan exactly if it were to happen to him, other than attempting to sell our house and moving back to NY where he has more contacts. Let's hope that doesn't happen. I'm not actually actively worrying about it, though, which is good. Stress is not good during this part of the cycle!

Speaking of mucus pictures. Lifehopes' husband gave a talk at a conference that we attended this summer. His talk was on NFP and part of it involved a slide with pics of mucus. There were a lot of unmarried college students there and their reaction was HILARIOUS! The girl sitting next to me at first was like "What the hell is THAT?" So I explained where it came from. Then she asked how I knew which was the "fertile" mucus, so I explained that too. There were also a table of seminarians right next to us, and watching the back of their necks turn bright red was very funny :)
ReplyDeleteGood luck this cycle!!! I will be praying for you. I love your aprons. I wish I was artistic!!! I'm just a couch potato!!! Lol
ReplyDeleteKami
When I first started charting I used to second guess my obervations all the time. I think I drove my husband crazy asking for input (after the fact, of course). I will be praying for this cycle to bring you some new clues to how your body is working and for good things to come about with your husband's job. You are so wise to not let your heart be troubled and stressed. You serve a mighty God and he will provide for your every need!
ReplyDeleteSo cute!!!
ReplyDeleteBTW - you have an award waiting for you over on my blog!! Be sure to check it out!!
OMGosh-- I would totally buy your aprons. I can't wait for Christmas just to break out my "naughty or nice" apron -- no, it's not bad at all.. it's really pretty and red and long :)
ReplyDeleteAhh.. the mucus pictures. The Creighton instructor got all excited when she got to the slide of the good mucus. She may have even used the term 'beautiful.' But hey, it is what we want to see! (What does 10 KL mean? I don't remember seeing that in the book, but I don't have the book yet to look it up.)
I'll keep your hubby (and his co-workers) in my prayers.
LMAO about the mucus pics!! I was recently talking (kind of a "pre" Intro Session) to a group of teenagers at a shelter about their bodies, and 1 girl came in late and heard me talking about all this mucus. She said, "Um, I don't really cough up a lot of mucus ever."
ReplyDeleteAnd, along your lines of not wanting to be a Practitioner because of having to look at those pics all day... I once told DH to wash his hands after work, and said to him "you work with gross stuff." He came back with, "Well you better wash YOUR hands, you work with cervical mucus all day." I was like, Ewwww, what is it you think I DO at work?!?!
We only show the mucus pics at the 1st and 2nd follow-up. So if you could stomach it, you should consider being a Practitioner :)
Vent-ilation - 10 KL means stretchy (1 inch or more), clear, and lubricative.
ReplyDeleteTCIE - Oh my gosh, that is HYSTERICAL about your husband!!!!
I must say the PC mucus makes me want to throw up! No lie
ReplyDeleteI remember pulling out the picture dictionary at the dinner table. And my husband looked at me and said, do you think we have to look at that now? Opps....
So I am wondering where you got the "pattern" for the top part of your apron? How did you figure the measurements for the gathering?
The top of the apron I play around with measurements for.. and then I fold it in half and just cut a curved line. It's always different! And for the gathering at the waist, it's super easy. I make the waist band part about 22 inches, or however much I want it to go around the waist and into the back.. and then when I attach the skirt part to it, I use the entire width of the original fabric or sometimes I cut it down (I just looked at one and apparently I cut it down to 32), depending on how much you want it to bell out. Then I just pin the gathered parts, and then sew over it.
ReplyDeleteI love aprons! I have, um, 5 I think! 2 that I use almost daily (I cook and bake a lot from scratch), 2 for historical re-enactments, and one "manly-ish" Williams of Sonoma one for my husband.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, I wish the user manual had those pictures! I had my first follow up last night and got to see them and it definitely helped a lot. I think this cycle is looking annovulatory due to coming off the pill.
Yup! I would definately need you to show me! I think I have a learning disability! But I did find a cute apron pattern online, that I am dying to make. Thank you so much for inspiring me!
ReplyDeleteFabric store here I come!!! :)
LMAO about the picture dictionary...:) It really isn't that bad teaching it. I will keep you and your DH in my prayers.
