It's always good when...

*...you don't leave your baby in the cart at the register to run and get an item you forgot.

Is it wrong that I was actually proud of myself for thinking clearly enough to not do this?

*...you get a wonderful opportunity to practice humility when you realize everyone in line just watched you almost forget you have a baby with you.

*...you have so much energy you wonder who took over your body and what did they do with the real you. I haven't felt this good since this time last year, when we first got Clara and before I got pregnant. Is it possible that somehow caring for newborns fixes adrenals?

*...you get a free couch!

A friend of ours was moving and couldn't take along her expensive, plush and comfy couch. It now replaces our old one which was a safety hazard since our cats had scratched it to the point of exposing the interior framework. And there were staples.

It's probably too big for our little house, bit did I mention it was free? And comfy? And matches our other furnishing? I could have stopped at free.

*...you notice your daughter's chewing on her crib before she gnaws all the way through.

Sorry, Clara. You might have gotten this past your old foggy-brained mommy, but the new-and-improved me is all over this. It only took me probably about a week of her going all Shawshank during every nap before I noticed. Small victories!

  1. I think you get MASSIVE amounts of points for simply leaving the house with two tiny kids on this little sleep.

Extra credit for a) dressing both kids in coats b) dressing both kids in hats, c) dressing one year old in shoes, d) dressing one year old in MATCHING shoes.

  2. I love this post and the couch is great and bigger furniture CAN go in a smaller space!

Glad you have some of your energy back.

PS- I've kind of been a lurker of your blog but I'm coming out of the woodwork today!

I have spent so much time DREADING having another newborn (just out of anxiety, not because I don't love her!), but maybe I should be looking forward to having some of my energy back?? Again, love it:)!

  10. Such a cute post! I too LOVE the couch! So awesome. I love free stuff that's in good shape and, did I mention, free?!

Also, I ate my wooden crib as a baby and I turned out fine! Well, some might debate that...

  16. Hahaha, we have a chewer!!

And I think Sew might fight that statement about caring for newborns fixing adrenals ;) You may consider Adren-All (a supplement for adrenal support). I have really benefitted from it.

  17. Funny! My 15 month is doing the same thing to his crib! Let us know if you found something to remedy it :)
So glad you are feeling better! It took me like two months to walk normally after my c-section!
You are doing such an amazing job!

  18. Yay for free couches :) D. did the same thing to his crib - woke up with sawdust around his mouth. Don't spend $$ on the fancy crib guard/blankets that velcro around the rails. Use a few plastic zip ties to secure receiving blankets around each rails. Works like a charm! And a lot cheaper, too.
